The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office has released the name of a woman who was flown to an out-of-state hospital after a UTV rollover wreck at Lake Barkley last weekend.
Sheriff Brent White responded to the crash on Lake Barkley’s shoreline near the end of Green Road shortly after 4:00 Sunday afternoon, October 16.
According to his investigation, 39-year old Chad Whitis of Symsonia was operating the UTV on the dry lakebed with four passengers when he lost control and it overturned. Sheriff White says a passenger seated in the rear of the UTV, 31-year old Ashleylynn Whitis of Kuttawa was thrown to the front of the vehicle and seriously injured.
Whitis was flown by Air Evac to a Nashville hospital. The sheriff says the remaining four occupants were restrained and not injured in the wreck.
Sheriff White was assisted on the scene by Deputy David Carroll, the Kuttawa Fire Department, Lyon County EMS, and Air Evac.
