Police have released more information about a crash on US 68 in Trigg County that killed one person and injured two others Monday morning.
Kentucky State Police say just before 9 am, a truck driven by 70-year-old Marcie Birdsong, of Cadiz, was turning onto US 68 from Blue Springs Road and pulled into the path of a westbound truck driven by 18-year-old Jillian Plunkett, of Greenbriar, Tennessee.
Marcie Birdsong was pronounced dead at the scene by the Trigg County Coroner’s Office.
A helicopter was called to transport 75-year-old Everette Birdsong, of Cadiz, who was a passenger in Marcie Birdsong’s truck to an out-of-state hospital with what were termed severe injuries. Plunkett was taken by ambulance to Trigg County Hospital for injuries.
The crash caused the roadway to be closed for several hours as reconstruction was done.
Plunkett’s truck was hauling a livestock trailer with a horse inside but the horse did not appear to have any injuries from the crash.
