The Princeton Police Department will start collecting toys for the annual Officer David Scott Memorial Toy Drive next week.Chief Chris King tells the News Edge they will start accepting sign-ups next Thursday for children between the ages of 2 to 10 and residents of Caldwell County.
click to download audioHe says a social security card or medical card, for each child on the application, must be presented with the application, for proof of age.
During this time, they will also be taking monetary donations at the Princeton Police Department.

click to download audioHe says toys are to be picked up on Saturday, December 17, from noon until 3:00 p.m. at the Princeton Tourist and Welcome Center located at 206 East Market Street and parents must bring a photo ID.
The Princeton Police Department is currently under renovation and donated toys can be dropped off at its temporary location at 110 West Washington Street.
The annual toy drive is named after former Princeton Police Officer David Scott, who served as a school resource officer and was the driving force behind the toys for tots drive. In 2006, Scott was off duty and on his way to help with the toy drive when he was involved in a fatal traffic crash. Then-Mayor Vickie Hughes renamed the toy drive in his honor.
