A traffic stop led to the arrest of a Providence woman for meth possession Friday night.
According to Providence Police, Sergeant Eric Elder stopped a vehicle driven by Teresa Tyson for speeding on Westerfield Drive around 9:00 p.m. He said Tyson began searching for a current insurance card when K-9, Kora, was deployed and alerted to the presence of narcotics. Sergeant Elder said a search revealed a bag of suspected methamphetamine in Tyson’s wallet.
Tyson was taken into custody and charged with possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine, 2nd offense, possession of drug paraphernalia, speeding 15 mph over the limit, and failure to produce insurance card.
