Princeton City Council heard several department and committee reports at last week’s regular meeting including an update from Police Chief Chris King about the recent toy drive.
Chief King said they distributed toys to more than 100 children in the community during this year’s annual event.
click to download audioFire Chief Brent Francis provided an update about the renovation project at the fire department. He said the ceiling is up with new heaters installed in the station along with some new lights. He noted they still have some lights to install that were sidetracked due to the weather along with some smaller things to be completed soon.
During committee reports, Councilwoman Pat George, who serves on the Princeton Water & Wastewater Commission, said they had a special called meeting earlier this month and received an update about a Cost of Service Study.
click to download audioShe also noted that Princeton Water & Wastewater has hired someone to fill the operator’s job who started on December 19th.
click to download audioDuring an update about the Princeton Electric Plant Board, Councilman and board member Jim Joiner said they had received approval from FEMA to fund the replacement of some utility poles.
click to download audioHe added that the replacement work began Monday, December 19th, and would continue for 4 weeks. He urged motorists to use caution in the area of the Elks Club and Deerfield.
Joiner, who also serves on the Princeton-Caldwell County Airport Board, said work began on the new beacon light pole that was 100% funded by the Kentucky Department of Aviation.

When Princeton City Council next meets on Monday, January 2nd, it will be under new leadership as Brock Thomas begins his duties as mayor with all six council members returning for another two-year term.
