Thunderstorms and heavy rain that swept across western Kentucky prompted several warnings to be issued overnight including some flood and tornado warnings.
A Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 9:30 Tuesday morning for a portion of western Kentucky including Caldwell, Christian, Hopkins, Lyon and Trigg counties.
Due to the threat of severe weather overnight, Caldwell County Judge-Executive Kota Young announced around 11:00 Monday night that the courthouse was open as a storm shelter if needed. Around twelve residents reportedly sheltered at the courthouse during the storm.
As of 6:30 Tuesday morning, Caldwell County Emergency Management Director Joey McCaslin says there were no reports of any damages. He says flooding has been reported on Shady Grove Road and Longbreak Road in the county impeding travel, however, all other roads seem good Tuesday morning.
Caldwell County Public Schools are reopening Tuesday morning after the Christmas break and will reportedly be running on a regular schedule.
