Flash Flood Warning in Effect For Portions of Western Kentucky


The National Weather Service in Paducah has issued a Flash Flood Warning for portions of western Kentucky Thursday morning, including in the counties of Caldwell County, central Hopkins County, southwestern Webster County, central Crittenden County, southern Livingston County, Lyon County, and Marshall County.
The flash flood warning is in effect until 11:30 Thursday morning.
At 9:11 a.m., the National Weather Service in Paducah says Doppler radar continued to indicate thunderstorms with heavy rainfall moving through the area.
According to meteorologists, between 2 and 3.5 inches of rain have fallen with additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches possible in the warned area.
Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas is expected or will continue.
Some locations that will experience flash flooding include Madisonville, Princeton, Benton, Providence, Marion, Dawson Springs, Calvert City, Eddyville, Land Between The Lakes Area, Earlington, Clay, Mortons Gap, Dixon, Salem, Farmersville, Creswell, Olney, Ledbetter, Kuttawa and Fredonia.
Remember…Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
