Hopkinsville Man Arraigned In Infant’s Death

A Hopkinsville man charged with murder in connection to the death of a child was arraigned in Christian County Circuit Court Wednesday afternoon.
Alexander Heck, accompanied by his defense attorney, Michael Thompson, and Commonwealth’s Attorney Rick Boling, appeared before Judge Andrew Self, at which time, Thompson entered a not-guilty plea on behalf of Heck and waived the formal reading of the indictment.
Thompson requested that Judge Self set a bond hearing and pretrial conference for March 15th, but Boling informed them that the governor likely would not appoint a Commonwealth’s Attorney until that same day.

Heck is accused of causing the death of a 15-month child on March 1, 2022. Hopkinsville Police said the child, who was not related to Heck but lived in the same dwelling, died of blunt-force trauma.
Heck remains lodged in the Christian County Jail on a $500,000 bond.
