A Princeton man is facing multiple charges including possession of drugs after he allegedly fled from police who were attempting to make a traffic stop Saturday night.
According to Assistant Chief Shane Allision, officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on Maple Avenue for expired registration plates shortly after 9:00, but the driver accelerated after officers initiated emergency lights. Officers observed the vehicle pull behind a residence near the 400 block of Maple Avenue and the driver, identified later as 40-year old William E. Calloway, started running.
After Calloway was apprehended and taken into custody, he was reportedly found in possession of meth. During a search of the vehicle, officers said they found a small quantity of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Assistant Chief Allision says a record check indicated that Calloway’s license was also suspended.
Calloway was charged with expired plates, no insurance, fleeing or evading police both in a vehicle and on foot, first-degree possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, resisting arrest, and operating on a suspended license.
