Caldwell County Special Olympics sent two teams to the regional basketball competition and are now heading to the state tournament.
Lisa Hawkins has been one of the coaches for the teams for 7 years and is proud of the results from the Regional competition in Bowling Green.

The cheerleaders will also be making the trip to support their favorite players.
click to download audioThere are expenses to sending the 14 players and 5 cheerleaders to the state tournament and according to Hawkins the local community has always been supportive of the group.

The next season for Special Olympics will be track and will begin after the basketball tournament. The track team is open to anyone even if they have not participated in any of the sports in the past.
