Juvenile Hit by Vehicle in Madisonville, Taken to Hospital for Treatment

A juvenile sustained minor injuries and was transported to the hospital after being struck by an SUV in Madisonville Tuesday afternoon.
According to Madisonville Police, officers were sent to a vehicle versus pedestrian accident at North Main and Federal streets in Madisonville shortly after 3:00 p.m. Police say witnesses reported that a female juvenile was crossing from the east side of North Main Street to the west side, with northbound traffic having stopped and waved her across, and southbound traffic in the left turn lane waiting and also waving her to cross. However, police say the southbound traffic in the southbound lane could not see the pedestrian due to the vehicles in the turn lane, unaware that she had been waved across by other lanes of traffic. As soon as the juvenile ran to cross the crosswalk police indicate she did not see the southbound traffic until it was too late, and the driver of a vehicle, 75-year old Diana Stokes of Madisonville, did not see the southbound traffic until it was too late and struck the juvenile with the front driver’s side of the vehicle’s hood.
The Madisonville Fire Department already on the scene rendered aid until the Med Center ambulance arrived and transported the juvenile to the emergency room for minor injuries.
