An expansion is on the horizon for Missionary Radio based in Hopkinsville.
Ken Cummins, general manager for the 100-percent listener-funded radio station group, tells Your News Edge the stations that will join their five signals come from Heartland Missionary, Inc. out of Hardin, Kentucky.
Cummins says this process has been led by the Lord and will feature some changes in the coming months.
The Marshall County radio stations, other than the simulcast of Missionary Radio coming to WVHM-FM, will be ran with funding collected by those stations.
As for the group of Pennyrile Christian Community, Inc. stations based in Hopkinsville, the annual Friend-Raiser is looking to pick up the recent slack felt by Missionary Radio. Cummins says they are about $40,000 behind where they should be in the last three months.
It costs about $1,642 a day to run Missionary Radio equating to about $50,000 a month and over $600,000 a year.
The Friend-Raiser will run until 6:00 on both Wednesday and Thursday evenings this week, with donations always being accepted online at Missionary.Radio. Donations can also be made throughout the event through faith-based pledges or in person at 1100 East 18th Street in Hopkinsville.
