Surveillance video has led law enforcement to open an investigation into a vehicle fire on East 9th Street Monday morning.
Hopkinsville Police say a truck was destroyed and a second vehicle was damaged in a fire at Pit Stop Automotive just before 1 am Monday.
After reviewing surveillance video police say a man could be seen coming out from under the truck and rolling on the ground trying to extinguish his clothing that was on fire.
The man then reportedly grabs what is believed to be a power tool that is on fire from under the truck and fled the area.
Police say they believe the man was cutting parts off the truck and accidentally cut the fuel tank igniting the vehicle and himself.
No arrest has been made but the report lists the charge as first-degree criminal mischief.
