Man Charged With DUI After Hit-And-Run In Princeton


A Texas man was charged with DUI and other offenses after a hit-and-run collision on Marion Road in Caldwell County early Saturday morning.
According to Assistant Princeton Police Chief Shane Allison, officers responded to the collision that occurred on Marion Road on the Interstate 69 overpass around 1:20 p.m. and made contact with 44-year old Juan Cacique-Garcia, of Huber Heights, Ohio, who stated that he was traveling west on Marion Road in his pickup truck and was sideswiped by a Suburban traveling east. He reportedly told officers that the driver didn’t stop and that he saw the vehicle turn in at the Stratton Inn hotel.
Officers located the vehicle and the driver 26-year old Edin Martinez-Lopez, of Austin, Texas, at the hotel and determined that he was under the influence of intoxicants and could not provide insurance or a valid driver’s license.
Martinez-Lopez was taken into custody and charged with DUI 1st offense, leaving the scene of an accident, no insurance, and no operator’s license. He was lodged in the Caldwell County Jail.
