The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans a mobile daytime work zone along Interstate 24 in Lyon County to allow media work starting Wednesday.
District 1 spokesman Keith Todd says motorists should be alert for an intermittent daytime work zone between the 34 and 55-mile markers on I-24. He indicates that several truck crashes in the median during the winter months created ruts that have caused some drainage issues at about 10 locations in Lyon County.
According to Todd, the crew will start at the Cumberland River bridge near the 34-mile marker and work eastward at various locations along the eastbound lanes. The work zone is expected to be active between 7 a.m. and 2 p.m., each day that weather permits.
All traffic will be moved to the right-hand or driving lane in this work zone, which will change locations from time to time as median repairs are completed.
Todd says the work is expected to take about two weeks to complete, weather permitting.
