Kentucky State Police has announced traffic safety checkpoints in Lyon and Trigg counties.
KSP said the checkpoints check motorists for compliance with motor vehicle laws including driving under the influence statutes.
They are also used to promote safety for motorists using the public roadways and to provide a deterrent for those who violate laws contained in the Kentucky Revised Statutes.
Drivers encountering a traffic safety checkpoint are requested to have their operator’s license, vehicle registration receipt and proof of insurance readily accessible.
In Lyon County, the checkpoints will be set up at U.S. 62 at the Kentucky 810 (South) intersection, as well as, Kentucky 93 South at the Kentucky 293 and Kentucky 1055 intersection. Additionally, KSP will be located at the Woodlands Trace – near the entrance to Land Between The Lakes.
In Trigg County, they will be set up at U.S. 68 (Bypass) – West of the Howard Anderson Bridge, Kentucky 139 (North) at Bush Road, and Kentucky 274 – West of John Woodruff Bridge (near the entrance to the boat ramp).
Caldwell County sites were announced last month and include: the intersection of Kentucky 139 and Kentucky 70, Kentucky 126 at Kentucky 672, and U.S. 62 at the Lyon County line.
No timeframe on when the checkpoints would be in place was announced, but it’s state law for KSP to post where they will be conducting them.
