While June ended with the highest temperatures of 2023, it turned out to be one of the coolest months on record.
According to the Caldwell County Mesonet site, June’s average temperature was 72.2 degrees which is tied for the fourth coolest on record and three degrees cooler than last year.
The highest temperature was recorded last Friday when the mercury topped out at 95 degrees with a heat index of 113 degrees.
The lowest temperature was 48 degrees on June 13th.
The Caldwell County Mesonet site recorded only 1.67 inches of rain in June which is just outside the top 10 as one of the driest months on record.
