City Of Princeton Celebrates Independence Day (w/PHOTOS)

The City of Princeton and the Princeton Tourism Commission came together this year to help sponsor DuncFest, a Forth of July Celebration held Tuesday night at the Industrial Development Authority property on U.S. Highway 62 West.

The firework presentation has been sponsored in the past by Dunc’s Tire, but more activities were added this year with support from the city and other groups.
Jenny Clark works for the city and is also involved in the tourism commission and is glad they were able to work with all the groups to present the event this year.

Princeton Mayor Brock Thomas said the city hopes to continue being involved in presenting the fireworks and activities leading up to the show. He encourages everyone to make plans to come out next year.

Thomas shared he had talked to Dunc (Josh Duncan) in the past about the city getting involved and feels together with other community groups they can continue to improve the program for the local citizens.

The Princeton Optimist Club provided some of the night’s inflatables, and organization member Roy Gene Rogers said it was great to see the kids having a good time.

Rogers explained the Optimist Club wanted to provide something free for the kids to do while waiting for the fireworks to begin. He added they were looking at providing some free activities like the inflatables for the upcoming Black Patch Festival.

Dean Sears attended with his family and said they were enjoying the night.

A special thanks also go out to the Princeton Elks Lodge for helping supply the fireworks and other local businesses and individuals who had a part in making the night possible this year.
