Kukahiko Steps Into High School Principal Position

After serving two years as assistant principal at Caldwell County High School, Daniel Kukahiko stepped into the role of principal at the beginning of the month.
Kukahiko graduated from the school he will lead in 2001, but when graduating he was not sure what career he would pursue.

He enjoyed being in the classroom, but over time he began feeling the desire to enter into administration.

Being from Princeton, Kukahiko feels being a hometown man has its benefits. He is grateful for the support he has received from the community including from former principals Christy Phelps and Aaron McClung.

One call, from Charles Elder, a former administrator from the 1970s and 80s meant a lot to him.

Kukahiko shared that a short-term goal for him is to learn everything possible about being a good principal and doing what’s best for his students.

His long-term goal is to continue making the high school better each year for current and future students and the community.

He added that Caldwell County High School is moving to a new system to inform parents of information concerning students and activities. Parents are asked to be watching for information being sent to them concerning the new Parent Square system.
He added they have created a new Facebook page, “Caldwell County High School,” and encouraged everyone to follow it.
Kukahiko began his career at Hopkins Central where he taught special education and coached basketball for six years. He then returned to Caldwell County Schools to teach and coach. He received his Master’s Degree from Campbellsville University plus a degree in Administration from the University of the Cumberlands.
Kukahiko and his wife Kayla have two daughters and are active members of Princeton First Baptist Church where he serves as Chairman of the Deacons.
