A Nortonville man was killed when his pickup truck collided with a semi on Interstate 69 in Caldwell County Wednesday afternoon.
Kentucky State Police spokesman Ridge Porter reports that troopers with Post 2 responded to the crash near the 86-mile marker around 3:20 p.m.
According to a preliminary investigation, 23-year old Erik Putman was traveling northbound in the left lane on I-69 when his pickup truck struck the rear of a semi that was stopped in the same lane due to mechanical problems.
Trooper Porter says Putman was pronounced dead at the scene by the Caldwell County Coroner. The driver of the semi, 60-year old Tommy Robinson of Cincinnati, Ohio was not injured in the collision.
I-69 was reportedly closed to traffic at Exit 81 for several hours due to the fatal crash.
