The Caldwell County High School football team played their first home game of the season Friday night and around 50 young cheerleaders took to the sidelines to cheer them on.
Second grader Kara Bell was one of the cheerleaders and was ready for the game.
Her mother, Rebecca Bell, said it was a good experience for the younger girls and she was glad they had the older cheerleaders to look up to and follow.
Taylor Stephens is also a second grader and shared the clinic was fun and she was looking forward to doing some of the cheers and dance moves they had learned the week prior.
Teresa Stephens said the young students learned a lot during the clinic and were excited to see them perform during the game.
This was the first time some of the young ladies were with the high school cheerleading squad and they hope to one day join the team.
Friday night was also a first for some other things at Tiger Stadium. It was the first home football game where all students in the local school district were admitted free of charge thanks to several local groups, individuals, and businesses coming together to pay the admission for all the home games this year.
It was also the first time for newly hired Band Director Mason Henry to lead the high school band in the National Anthem and halftime performance.
