A Princeton man was arrested after allegedly stealing a cell phone from an employee of Walmart Wednesday.
The Princeton Police Department said that 59-year-old John Wadlington was caught on camera stealing a phone that was issued by the company for the employee while being checked out in the sporting goods section of the store.
The footage showed Wadlington placing the phone inside his cart and leaving the store with it.
When officers arrived at his South Jefferson Street home, the phone was in plain view on Wadlington’s truck console.
He was also found to have two handguns – one had the serial number removed.
Wadlington was lodged in the Caldwell County Jail on charges of theft over $1,000, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, and possession of a defaced firearm.
