A North Carolina man was arrested near Princeton Thursday following a two-county police pursuit.
Information from the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Department said Deputy Ashley Copeland tried to stop a motorcycle for driving 86 mph in a 55 mph around 4:15 on US 62.
The driver, 41-year-old Christopher McCallister, refused to stop for deputy, who said the pursuit continued on several county roads and into Hopkins County before returning to Caldwell County on the Princeton-Olney Road.
Deputies said two attempts were made to stop McCallister who drove off the road to avoid one roadblock. The pursuit continued onto KY 293 toward Princeton at speeds of over 90 mph. McCallister then turned onto I-69 southbound to the Marion Road exit.
Due to the increased traffic flow, sheriff’s deputies used a legal intervention to stop McCallister, who was transported to Caldwell Medical Center where he was treated and released.
McCallister was lodged in the Caldwell County Jail on charges of Wanton Endangerment, Fleeing and Evading Police, and Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st & 2nd degree.
He was also served two Caldwell County bench warrants.
State Police and the Princeton Police Department also assisted with the pursuit.
