Restrictions Lifted for Canal Bridge North of LBL

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has completed its detailed inspection of the Kentucky 453 Canal Bridge near the Lyon County-Livingston County line that included a width restriction.
The daytime lane and load width restriction at the northern entrance to Land Between the Lakes was removed after the inspection work was completed early with help from additional inspectors.
There were reports that the eight-foot load width restriction created a bottleneck for motor homes and vehicles pulling camper trailers heading into Land Between the Lakes.
The Canal Bridge immediately south of Grand Rivers serves as the northern entrance to LBL and serves as the main artery for the national recreation area from Grand Rivers to Dover, Tennessee.
Approximately 1,300 vehicles cross the Canal Bridge in an average day.
All Kentucky bridges get a detailed inspection every two years with all long-span lake and river bridges getting an annual walk-through inspection.
