The Caldwell County Grand Jury returned seven felony indictments from the October 3 session on charges of assault, burglary and drug trafficking.
A true bill was returned on 29-year old Jerald Swetland, of Princeton, on charges of fourth-degree assault, second-degree strangulation, second-degree unlawful imprisonment, and first-degree persistent felony offender.
On August 11, Princeton Police officers responded to a domestic disturbance near the 300 block of Hillview Court shortly after 11:00 that night. Police said an investigation revealed that a physical altercation had occurred and the victim told officers that Swetland had grabbed her neck and held her down.
39-year old Phillip Mason, whose address is listed as unknown, was indicted on charges of fourth-degree assault and first-degree strangulation after he allegedly intentionally caused physical injury to a female victim and choked her on May 7.
A true bill was returned on 24-year old Christopher Wilburn, Jr., of Princeton, on charges of fourth-degree assault and second-degree strangulation.
According to the indictment, Wilburn intentionally caused physical injury to a female victim and applied pressure on her throat or neck on May 21.
54-year old Gregory Childress, of Madisonville, was indicted on charges of third-degree burglary and first-degree persistent felony offender after he is accused of unlawfully entering a building with the intent to commit a crime on June 14.
A true bill was returned on 55-year old Stephen Cartwright and 49-year old Cheri Shaw, both of Princeton, on charges of first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance – complicity, and violation of conditions of release. Cartwright was also indicted on a first-degree persistent felony offender charge.
According to Princeton Police, officers went to a residence in the 200 block of Center Street to serve a Hopkins County Bench Warrant and found Cartwright hiding in the attic. As he was being arrested, officers reportedly observed three small bags of suspected methamphetamine on a coffee table.
Officers also found Shaw inside the residence and allegedly found more meth where she was sleeping.
And, 31-year old Paul Dwight Morgan, of Hickman, was indicted on charges of DUI – 4th or subsequent offense, possession of marijuana, first-degree possession of a controlled substance, and operating on a suspended or revoked operator’s license.
