A Princeton man and a Hopkins County man were flown to out-of-state hospitals after a single-vehicle wreck in Caldwell County early Wednesday morning.
Caldwell County Sheriff Don Weedman reports deputies were dispatched to the intersection of Scottburg and Watson Roads shortly after 12:45 for a possible motor vehicle accident.
He says a preliminary investigation revealed that 26-year old Matthew Rollins, of Princeton, was driving a pickup truck at a high rate of speed southbound on Scottsburg Road when he failed to negotiate a curve and struck an earth embankment at the intersection.
According to deputies, Rollins was trapped in the vehicle and was extricated by the Princeton Fire Department. He was then flown to Deaconess Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
A passenger in the vehicle, 31-year old Michael Wyatt, of Hopkins County, reportedly sustained serious injuries in the crash and was flown to Skyline Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
The sheriff’s office was assisted at the scene by the Princeton/Caldwell County Fire Department, EMS, and AirEvac.
