The Caldwell County High School Choir/Theatre Department is seeking donations to raise funds to pay for various production costs for the 2023-24 school year.
On Tuesday, Miranda Meeks, the high school’s Art and Theatre teacher, and Becca Robards, who teaches Choir and Theatre for both the middle school and high school, were the guest speakers at the Princeton Rotary Club’s weekly meeting on Tuesday.
During her update, Meeks revealed that there is an ongoing effort to revive the popular spring musical in Princeton after it ceased to exist a few years ago.

She noted that they have obtained $4,000, and still need to raise $6,000 to cover the costs of three productions they have planned for this year.

Meeks mentioned the need for funds in several production categories, such as production rights at a cost of $3,000 per play, scripts/songbooks, costumes, batteries, sets and props, and makeup and wigs. She also noted and expressed her gratitude that the school district is supportive of this program and has already purchased the over-ear microphones that were needed.
Meeks also announced that the first production will be “Importance of Being Earnest” which will be performed by the theatre class students in early December. She added that while they have a Christmas theme this year, it may not be the case for every future Christmas production.
According to Meeks, the junior class will organize the annual Mystery Dinner Theatre in March as a fundraising event for Prom. This year, she explained how the production would work and that it would also include community members as well.

Furthermore, she pointed out that all of the productions are student-led and crafted, with the sets and props to be constructed by the Ag and Art Departments.
In order to begin the ordering process of supplies as early as possible so they have time to build, paint, order rights, scripts arrive, etc., Meeks said they need access to funds starting this month and November.
If any individual, organization, or business would like to make a donation to help the Choir/Theatre Department reach its goal, it should be directed to the Caldwell County High School Choir account.
Princeton Rotary Club President JD Wilson introduced Miranda Meeks and Becca Robards at the meeting.
