Svoboda Appointed to State Friends of the Library Board

A well-known community member has been selected to serve on the Kentucky Friend of the Library Board. According to Kathy Svoboda from the Friends of the George Coon Public Library, she and other board members were selected at the state Friend of Library Conference held in Bowling Green on Saturday, October 9th.


click to download audioShe noted that the local Friends of the George Coon Public Library will celebrate its 30th anniversary next year, which means they have been doing something they can be proud of.
Svoboda also mentioned that the group plays a vital role in furnishing the library with its needs.


click to download audioThis week the local library is celebrating National Friend of the Library Week. Svoboda said the local library’s theme is “Friend of the Library”. Throughout the week, according to Svoboda, the library will have a scavenger hunt.


click to download audioThe community is also invited to hear this year’s Chautauqua speaker in the library’s auditorium at 6:00 Tuesday evening.

click to download audioOn Wednesday, the library will have a drawing for 2 tickets for the Friends of Library luncheon if you use any of the library services.
Svoboda announced the library will host more activities on Thursday and Friday.

click to download audioIf you are interested in becoming a member of the Friends of the George Coon Public Library, Svoboda said the annual membership fee is $5 for seniors, $10 for individuals and $25 for a family.
