Man Charged With Identity Theft After Princeton Traffic Stop

A man was arrested and charged with identity theft and other offenses following a traffic stop in Princeton over the weekend.
Princeton Assistant Police Chief Shane Allison reported that officers initiated a traffic stop after noticing a vehicle traveling in the wrong direction on West Main Street around 11:45 PM on Saturday night. Upon making contact with the male driver, officers discovered that he provided them with a name that matched an individual with a suspended operator’s license. The male driver was arrested and placed in the Caldwell County Jail under the name he had given to the officers.
The following day, jail staff contacted the officers to inform them that the male subject had provided them with a false name. Princeton Assistant Police Chief Shane Allison stated that an investigation revealed the true identity of the individual as 49-year-old Charles Langston, who was found to have a suspended Florida driver’s license. Langston allegedly admitted to providing the wrong name because he believed he had active warrants. Allison further revealed that a records check showed Langston had an active bench warrant in Allen County.
Langston was charged with operating on a suspended license, no insurance, reckless driving, and theft of identity of another without consent. He was also served with the Allen County Bench Warrant charging him with contempt of a court, a misdemeanor charge.
