Princeton Man Charged After Walmart Incident

A Princeton man was issued a citation after an incident at the local Walmart over the weekend.
Princeton Assistant Police Chief Shane Allison says officers responded to Walmart for an assault that occurred in the parking lot shortly before 6:00 Sunday night.
Officers made contact with the victim and an investigation revealed that the male victim was reportedly assaulted by a black male that had fled the scene. Further investigation revealed that the assault had taken place due to a misunderstanding about an alleged attempted child abduction.
According to police, officers reviewed the in-store video and no evidence of any attempted abduction occurring and there were no indications of any criminal activity found.
Law enforcement reports officers identified the perpetrator of the assault as 27-year old Jerome Brown, whom Walmart requested be trespassed from the store due to the disturbance.
Princeton Police issued Brown a citation for second-degree disorderly conduct.
The Princeton Police Department would like to remind the public to call the police when they believe a crime is being committed or attempted to allow a proper investigation to be conducted.
Authorities say the assault investigation at Walmart is ongoing.
