A business teacher at Caldwell County High School was recently selected to attend the annual JumpStart National Educator Conference in Phoenix, Arizona.
Public Relations Coordinator Lizzie Wynn says Jennifer Griggs’ application was chosen by the National Endowment for Financial Education. She notes the organization also awarded her a scholarship to attend the conference.
Teachers must apply to attend the conference. Wynn says the application process includes a written essay, information on their school’s Title 1 and Free and Reduced Lunch percentages, and how they intend to use the information and resources from the conference.
Wynn explains that the JumpStart Coalition is a national nonprofit comprised of more than 100 organizations from various industries. The coalition also has a network of 51 state affiliates who share a commitment to “financial smarts for students.”
According to Wynn, the JumpStart Coalition raises awareness about the importance of financial literacy and the need for financial education among youth. The coalition fosters collaboration among financial stakeholders and promotes and supports financial education for students.
