The Caldwell County Elementary School hosted a recognition program Friday morning for local Veterans.
The morning began with Veterans and their guest registering and then moved into the newly remodeled gym. The program began with recognition of all Veterans present followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and students sharing facts about the military and history. The 5th grade choir, consisting of all 5th grade students, shared several patriotic songs including the Star Spangled Banner.
The guest speaker was Charles Craig, an active member of the U S Army stationed at Fort Campbell. He shared that he grew up in a small town in Ohio and after entering the military traveled the world. He found anywhere he was located that Veterans have a common bond and become immediate friends. He wanted to return to a small town area and currently owns a home in Fredonia where he plans on living after retirement. He was glad to be a part of the program.
