Caldwell 4-H Honors Members And Leaders During Annual Banquet

The Caldwell County 4-H Achievement Banquet was held Monday night with over 125 in attendance.

The program began with the pledge to the American Flag and reciting the 4-H pledge followed by a meal catered by Mitzi Travis. Caldwell County 4-H Agent Rhonda Jewell explained the annual banquet is a long standing tradition of recognizing accomplishments of the students.


click to download audioBefore the recognition of awards, a dessert auction was held with local auctioneer Wayne Cash entertaining the group while raising several hundred dollars. Several homemade cakes and pies as well as donated items were sold with lots of fun inserted by Cash.
The awards recognition part of the program featured various 4-H leaders naming members of their teams and listing the accomplishments of the individuals over the past year. 4-H members were called to the front of the room to receive awards and certificates as they were introduced.
The Wallace Memorial Outstanding Youth award was presented in honor and memory of Jimmy and Bettie Sue Wallace who were longtime sponsors of the local 4-H program as well as known across the State for their support of 4-H. The $500.00 cash award was presented to Senior member Knolin Lewis who wasn’t expecting to win this award.

click to download audio4-H leaders were recognized for their years of service to the local club. The longest serving leader in Caldwell County with 55 years of service is Sandra Roberts. Roberts noted she and her husband started their service by hosting a club in their home and she enjoys helping others enjoy 4-H like her children did growing up.


click to download audioThe Meritorious Leader Award was given to Annette Witherspoon who has served for 9 years as a 4-H leader and been on the Council and active in Shooting Sports.
The banquet was held in the recreational building at Northside Baptist Church.
