James McDaniels, 80, of Eddyville

James “Jimbo” Roy McDaniels, age 80, of Eddyville, passed away Saturday, December 2nd, 2023, at UofL Health – Jewish Hospital in Louisville, KY. He served in the Army Reserve and retired from Arkema (formerly Elf Atochem) in Calvert City, KY.

Jimbo is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Carol, his sons Jeff (Shellie), Eddyville, KY, and Jason (Laura), Crestwood, KY; and five grandchildren, Taylor, Morgan, Jacob, Jackson and Gavin. He is also survived by two brothers, Charles F. McDaniels (Beth), Nashville, TN; Mike D. McDaniels (Christie), Englewood, FL; and several nieces and nephews.
Jimbo was preceded in death by his parents James H. and Regina Hogan McDaniels, his sister Margaret Sivills and his niece Kimberly Holloway Haggerty.

A lifelong resident of Lyon County, Jimbo dedicated much of his life to serving the community he loved, most notably at Lee S. Jones Park. He was honored as Eddyville Citizen of the Year and recognized as a local winner of the Jefferson Award for his public service contributions.

To know Jimbo was to know a friend, an avid sports fan, and an Elvis enthusiast. Jimbo never knew a stranger. He was a passionate fan of the Lyons, Kentucky Wildcats and the New York Yankees. Above all, Jimbo was a proud father and grandfather. His family was his life’s joy.

Visitation will be Thursday, December 7th, 2023 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Lakeland Funeral Home in Eddyville. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Friday, December 8th at Lakeland Funeral Home with burial following at Rolling Hills Cemetery in Eddyville.
