Former Caldwell County Jailer Jon Pettit has been hired as the newest member of the Dawson Springs Police Department.

The Dawson Springs department made the announcement on Thursday welcoming Pettit to their family.

Pettit retired as the Caldwell County Jailer on September 30, 2022, after serving his third term. He ran for the Caldwell County Sheriff’s position in 2022 but was defeated by the current sheriff, Don Weedman.

Pettit’s career in law enforcement began with the Cadiz Police Department in 1997 and he soon returned to Caldwell County in 2003 as a deputy sheriff before becoming the jailer. He most recently served as a deputy with the Trigg County Sheriff’s Department.

Officials with the Dawson Springs Police Department said they are “very happy to have him aboard.”
