Irvin Augustus Martin, age 91, passed away on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at Rivers Bend Retirement Community.
Irvin was born on May 24, 1932, in Parkersburg, WV to the late Oley Martin and Bessie Greenwalt Smith. Irvin proudly served his country in the US Army. It was while stationed at Fort Campbell that he met the love of his life and soon-to-be wife, Princeton native, Mary Frances Overbey. Irvin and Mary’s love story would continue for 66 years until her passing in 2018. Irvin made his living as a pipe fitter for Pennwalt in Calvert City for 40 years and was a member of IAM Local 1969 in Calvert City. In his free time, Irvin was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved camping. Irvin was a member of Northside Baptist Church in Princeton.
Survivors include his daughter, Sue Ann (Steve) Sholar of Lyon County and several beloved extended family members in Kentucky and Tennessee.
Irvin is preceded in death by his parents, Oley Martin and Bessie Greenwalt Smith and his wife of 66 years, Mary Frances Overby Martin.
Visitation for Irvin Martin will be held on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Morgan’s Funeral Home in Princeton.
Funeral services will follow on Thursday, December 21, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Morgan’s Funeral Home with Bro. Dean Ray officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Princeton.
