Ray E. Belt, age 91, of Eddyville, KY, passed away Friday, December 22, 2023, at Ray & Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center in Paducah, KY. Ray was a member, deacon and Sunday School teacher at Eddyville First Baptist Church. He enjoyed traveling, fishing and most of all, taking care of his family. Ray was a Kentucky Colonel and was instrumental in establishing the Eddyville Port Authority. Ray was a Logistics Supervisor for over 40 years in manufacturing and transporting of chemicals with Pennwalt in Calvert City.
Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Ruby Lois Waters Belt, Eddyville, KY; three daughters, Amelia (Jeff) Vickery, Georgetown, KY; Vanessa Akin, Darmstadt, IN; Gretchen Kuersteiner, Columbus, IN; one sister, Vera Frazer, Lexington, KY; three brothers, Paul Belt, Marion, KY; Doyle (Lois) Belt, Lexington, KY; Jerry (Kay) Belt, Marion, KY; six grandchildren, Jason (Greg) McNeely, Erin (Terrence) Powderly, Mallory (Chad) Winstead, Lauren (Chris) Baumgart, Margie Akin, Kyle Kuersteiner; nine great-grandchildren, Brady, Cooper and Campbell Kirk, Griggs Winstead, Burton and Blanche Wilson-McNeely, Lucas, Vivian and Jack Baumgart and several nieces and nephews.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, William Ray Belt and Hazel Fowler Belt, two sisters, Norma Belt and Sue Franklin, one brother, Dennis Belt and one son-in-law, Bob Akin.
Visitation will be Wednesday, December 27, 2023, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Lakeland Funeral Home in Eddyville, KY and from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm on Thursday, December 28, 2023, at Eddyville First Baptist Church. Funeral services will be on Thursday, December 28, 2023, at 1:00 pm at Eddyville First Baptist Church with Rev. Franklin Skaggs officiating. Burial will follow in Rolling Hills Cemetery in Eddyville.
