A house fire on South Jefferson Street in Princeton claimed the lives of five dogs Thursday night.
Chief Brent Francis tells WPKY’s New’s Edge that firefighters were sent to a structure fire at 521 South Jefferson Street shortly after 8:00 pm.
He says one person inside the home when the fire started was able to escape without any injuries. However, he says five dogs died inside the house and two dogs survived.
Chief Francis says the two-story house, owned by Stephanie Hall, had extensive smoke and heat damage throughout the home with major damage to the downstairs. He says the fire appeared to have started near a couch and was contained to the living room and hallway.
A total of 20 firefighters responded to the fire with no injuries reported. Firefighters remained on the scene for approximately 90 minutes.
