At Tuesday night’s meeting, Princeton City Council approved a resolution for the Princeton Water & Wastewater Commission to apply for a grant for improvements at the wastewater treatment plant.
Superintendent James Noel explained that the $3.5 million grant would help fund the proposed improvement projects with an estimated cost of $3.6 million.
click to download audioThe Council unanimously approved the resolution that authorizes Noel and Mayor Brock Thomas to submit an application for the grant through the Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet and the Kentucky Infrastructure Authority to obtain loan assistance from the Federally Assisted Wastewater Revolving Fund for the improvements at the wastewater treatment facilities.
In other action, the Council approved the second reading of a budget amendment of $106,000 for the purchase of two police vehicles for the Princeton Police Department.
During committee and department reports, Councilman Jim Joiner shared some positive information from the Princeton Electric Plant Board.
Due to the dangerous temperature and wind chill, Fire Chief Brent Francis reminded everyone to be prepared for any problems that may occur when traveling.
