A Princeton man has been charged with escape after he reportedly ran from law enforcement when he was transported to the local jail.

According to Princeton Assistant Police Chief Shane Allison, officers received a report around 1:00 Wednesday afternoon that when the transport arrived at the jail 23-year old Cory Patterson jumped out and started running north toward Jefferson Street.

Around 1:20 pm, a citizen told police that he had seen Patterson near Princeton Apartments. When officers spotted Patterson near the wooded area behind the apartments, he reportedly ran into the woods where he was apprehended without incident.

Patterson was charged with second-degree fleeing and evading police on foot and second-degree escape.
