A Princeton man charged with the murder of his wife will appear for arraignment in Caldwell District Court on Wednesday.

42-year old Byron Black is charged with the murder of his wife, Kelly Black, whose body was discovered by the Princeton Police Department Sunday afternoon during a welfare check on Center Street.

Princeton Police then contacted Kentucky State Police and requested a death investigation. State police reported that Black died after she was shot in the back of the head.

Authorities learned that Byron Black had taken his 5-year old daughter, Lela Black. An AMBER alert for the child was issued Monday morning who police believed was with her biological father. The child and her father were reportedly located a few hours later at the Stratton Inn in Princeton. State police said the child was safe and Byron Black was taken into custody.

Black was lodged in the Caldwell County Jail under a $1 million bond. He is scheduled to appear for arraignment in District Court at 1:00 Wednesday afternoon.
