Local Salvation Army Representative Sheds Light on Charitable Mission

Last week, Bob Hayes, a representative from the local service unit of the Salvation Army in Caldwell County, shared details about the non-profit and charitable organization.

Hayes shared how he got involved with the Salvation Army when he began his banking career at Farmers Bank in 1977.

click to download audioSince 1980, Hayes has been overseeing the Salvation Service Center in Princeton. In 2023, he announced that the Service Center had experienced one of its most successful years, collecting over $8,000 that directly benefits the community.

click to download audioAdditionally, the organization has a committee comprised of community members.

click to download audioAccording to Hayes, the committee convenes approximately seven times annually, with monthly meetings leading up to the bell-ringing event at Walmart during the holiday season. He mentioned that they have individuals who eagerly anticipate the opportunity to ring the bells.

click to download audioTo be a part of the Salvation Army’s Bell Ringing, Hayes said you must be at least 18 years old.
