Two Princeton Residents Charged with Drug Trafficking

A Princeton man and woman were arrested on drug trafficking and possession charges after officers reportedly assisted Probation and Parole during a home check at a residence on Ratliff Street Monday morning.

According to Princeton Police, officers went to the home around 10:00 and made contact with 66-year old Sherry Ward. During a search of the home, police said they found several baggies of methamphetamine, assorted pills, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Ward was taken into custody and charged with trafficking meth over 2 grams, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, and possession of a controlled substance 2nd offense.

Police also made contact with 45-year old Andrew Smothers at the residence and a records check indicated that he had active warrants. Police said he was also found in possession of a firearm, marijuana, several baggies of meth, marijuana, assorted pills, and drug paraphernalia.

Smothers was arrested and charged with trafficking marijuana less than 8 ounces enhanced with a firearm, trafficking meth over 2 grams enhanced with a firearm, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, and two counts of possession of a controlled substance. He was also served with two Caldwell County Bench Warrants charging him with two counts of contempt of court to pay child support.

Ward and Smothers both were lodged in the Caldwell County Jail.
