Drivers need to be aware the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans an eastbound work zone lane restriction along Interstate 24 in Lyon County from Wednesday through Friday.

District 1 spokesman Keith Todd says the work zone lane restriction for eastbound traffic will run between the Weigh Station and the U.S. 62 Eddyville-Kuttawa Exit 40 Exchange.

Eastbound motorists should be alert for slowing and merging traffic as they approach the 36-mile marker. Todd says all eastbound traffic will move to the left-hand or passing lane in the work zone.

According to Todd, the Lyon County Highway Maintenance Crew will be doing some drainage work along the shoulder behind the guardrail in this area. Motorists should use appropriate caution where equipment, flaggers, and maintenance personnel are along the road near traffic flow.

Todd says this eastbound I-24 work zone will remain up around the clock and is expected to be active each day through Friday. He indicates there should be no impact on westbound traffic.
