A Princeton man accused of starting a fire on Varmintrace Road that caused several explosions was indicted during the April session of the Caldwell County Grand Jury.
A true bill was returned on Scott Agnew on charges of second-degree arson for starting a fire or causing an explosion with the intent to destroy or damage a building, according to the indictment, Agnew was also indicted on a charge of public intoxication.
The charges stem from the morning of February 26 when Princeton Police officers were requested by the Princeton Fire Department to respond to a residence in the 700 block of Varmintrace for an altercation that was occurring on the scene of a fire.
Officers reportedly made contact with Agnew, who informed them that the government told him to start the fire. Officers determined Agnew was under the influence of intoxicants and he was taken into custody.
He remains lodged in the Caldwell County Jail under a $10,000 cash bond.
