Ron Devine, 88, of Princeton

Ron Devine, age 88 of Princeton, a beloved member of the community, passed away on March 31, 2024, at Baptist Health Deaconess Hospital in Madisonville. He was born on March 10, 1936, in Union County, KY. Ron lived a remarkable life filled with diverse interests and passions.

Ron proudly enlisted at the age of 16 and served in the US Marine Corps from 1953 to 1957 during the Korean War—a testament to his dedication and patriotism. Additionally, he held the esteemed title of Kentucky Colonel, showcasing his commitment to his state and its traditions. After forty years as an outside salesman, he retired from Diversified Healthcare in Owensboro.

Ron had a zest for life that was truly infectious. He desired to make others laugh through the captivating stories he was so gifted at telling. He loved building & running his model trains, fishing excursions that brought him solace, golfing with family and friends as well as “playing” on the tractor on them. He was an avid reader of westerns.

Ron actively engaged in trying to reach others by inviting them to his church home at Fairview Missionary Baptist Church—where he found spiritual nourishment. His generosity knew no bounds as he loved helping causes like the Marine Corps Toys for Tots & In Touch Ministries.

Family was at the center of Ron’s world. He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Ginger Morse Devine of Princeton KY, and children Rodney K. Devine (Francisca) of Olive Branch MS, Cindy Willen (Tony) of Clarkson KY, Adrienne Devine (Aaron VanLaan) of Cordova TN, along with brother Kerry Devine of Utica KY, adopted daughters by love Tiyuana Sturm of Chattanooga TN and Stephanie Whitsel (Scott) of Hanover, MN, eleven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents L. Vernon Devine and Virginia Devine, his daughter Debra Devine, and twin brother Donald Devine.

Ron’s spirit will always be cherished by those who had the privilege of knowing him. A Celebration of Life and Memorial Service will be held on April 6, 2024, at Fairview Missionary Baptist Church in Princeton at 11:00 am with Bro. Bill Bruce and Anthony McGregor officiating. May he rest in peace as his memories continue to bring comfort and joy to all who hold him dear.
