Laverne Coleman, 81, of Princeton

Laverne Coleman, age 81 passed away on April 9, 2024, at Baptist Health of Paducah. She was born on April 1, 1943, in Princeton, KY, to her parents Robert and Ethel Oliver. Laverne had a close-knit family and was also deeply connected to her brother George Oliver (Vickie), who tragically passed away within two hours of her.

Laverne was a devout Christian and a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She also dedicated much of her life to her work, starting at Cumberland Manufacturing in Princeton and later retiring from Walmart after 34 years of service. Her strong work ethic and dedication left a lasting impact on those around her.

In addition to her successful career, Laverne found joy in various hobbies and interests. She had a passion for flowers and hummingbirds, often finding peace and solace in their beauty. Her family benefited greatly from her love for cooking; Laverne’s delicious meals brought them together around the dining table for countless cherished moments. She also shared a special bond with her fur baby Zoie, who brought her so much comfort and companionship.

Family meant everything to Laverne, especially her surviving children: Ray Coleman and Ricky Coleman (Darlene) of Princeton, as well as Teresa Childress (Brad) also of Princeton. Her brother Richard Oliver (Barbara) of Princeton and sister Dotti Lyles (Kendall) of Reidland. Her grandchildren Carrie Childress, Stuart Shelton, Justin Coleman (Kelly), Jayla Burke (Bolo), David Coleman (Makayla Cooper), Beth Coleman (Luke Griffin) and fourteen great grandchildren will deeply miss her presence in their lives.

In addition to her parents, Laverne was preceded in death by her husband Alvie Coleman of forty-three years.

Laverne’s warm personality shone brightest when she was surrounded by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Their laughter brought light to her days, and she cherished every moment spent with them.

A visitation in memory of Laverne will be held at Calvary Baptist Church in Princeton on April 13th from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on April 14th from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. The funeral service will take place at the same location on April 14th at 3:00 PM with Bro. John Hagan and Bro. Roger Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Princeton.

Laverne Coleman will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Her legacy of love, dedication, and kindness will continue to live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind. May she rest in eternal peace.
