The city of Dawson Springs is among three Kentucky Product Development Initiative projects Governor Andy Beshear announced on Thursday were approved for nearly $2.6 million in state funding to further site and building developments.
According to Gov. Beshear, on behalf of West Hopkins Industries Inc., the city of Dawson Springs was approved for $2 million in state support for a $4 million project. He says the community seeks to complete site readiness preparation and construct a 100,000-square-foot spec building.
The other two projects awarded funding include:
- Fulton County Fiscal Court, on behalf of the Hickman-Fulton County Riverport Authority Inc., was approved for $500,000 in state funding for a more than $4.1 million replacement of a conveyor system and related upgrades.
- The Hickman County Fiscal Court, in partnership with the Hickman County Industrial Development Authority, will invest $182,000 into the development of a site in Enterprise Park Clinton. The project was approved for $91,000 in state support.
The governor’s administration announced in March that Kentucky was ranked third nationally and first in the South Central region for economic development projects per capita by Site Magazine in its 2023 Governors Cup rankings. This follows Kentucky’s previous recognition by Site Selection as first in the South Central region and top 5 nationally in its 2023 Prosperity Cup ranking, which honors state-level economic development agencies for their achievements in attracting capital investment projects.
