Ahead of Graduation Day, officials with Murray State University have named a trio of recipients for spring 2024 Outstanding Senior recognition.
Ellie McGowan, a Fredonia native and Crittenden County graduate, is among them.
The daughter of Mollie and Shawn Tabor, and Lowell McGowan, she will earn a degree in agricultural business with a minor in economics.
McGowan is a Presidential Fellow, member of the Honors College and has served both as Student Regent and Student Government Association President since 2022. She currently serves the Kentucky Board of Student Body Presidents as chair, and was named Ms. Murray State University in 2023.
After graduation, she plans to move to Washington, D.C. and work for a Congressional Committee while continuing her education at Murray State University through the Master of Agricultural Economics program.
And later, there’s law school.
In a written statement, McGowan noted students, faculty, staff, administration and community members taught her so much about leadership and service, and that she was thankful to have had the opportunity to serve the campus in a variety of ways.
MSU also named Henderson native Caleb Coil, as well as Pearland, Texas, native and Racer volleyballer Dahlia Miller as Outstanding Seniors.
Spring Commencement will convene over two ceremonies, one at 9 AM and one at 1 PM, this Saturday at the CFSB Center in Murray.
