Zach Thomas Named New Principal of Lyon County High School

Lyon County Schools have announced Zach Thomas as the new principal of Lyon County High School.

Thomas has been serving as the principal of the Caldwell Regional Career Center since July 1, 2023, marking nearly a year in this role.

Officials say Thomas previously served Lyon County Schools in various capacities including teacher, coach, club sponsor, athletic director, and alternative education coordinator. In a statement from Lyon County Schools, Thomas said he is eager and excited to contribute to the success of Lyon County High School and support the students in achieving their fullest potential.

Superintendent Russ Tilford says he believes Thomas will be a great addition to Lyon County Schools and they value his commitment to the students, staff, and their school community. He further stated, he believes this will be an easy transition for Thomas.

Lyon County Schools’ officials said Thomas was selected from an applicant pool of eight qualified candidates for the principal position at the high school. He will begin his new role as principal of Lyon County High School on July 1. He replaces Tom Radivonyk who has accepted the superintendent position at Carlisle County.

Thomas is married to Jessica, a 2004 graduate of LCHS. They have two children, Sean and Adalynn, who both attend Lyon County Schools. Thomas graduated from Murray State University, earning his Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree and Rank 1 in School Administration.
